Unicorn Heart Candies have a delicious surprise in the center. A chocolate sandwich cookie is tucked in the middle for extra flavor and as a delightful and unexpected surprise.  (it also saves on the amount of chocolate you will have to use)

What do I need to Make Unicorn Heart Candies.

  1. A silicone heart mold
  2. White and pink, candy melts
  3. Silicone mold for the unicorn horn
  4. Chocolate sandwich cookies
  5. Sprinkles
  6. Gold or yellow ink pen to color the horn

Let’s Make the Unicorn Heart Candies.

  1. Melt the candy melts in the microwave or on top of the stove.
  2. Put some candy in the bottom of each heart mold.
  3. Add a chocolate sandwich cookie and fill the well with more candy melts until the cookie is covered.
  4. Chill the candy for 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Unmold and decorate the heart.
  6. Draw the eye’s on with a black candy marker.  Add the horn and sprinkles.  The ears are a mini marshmallow cut on the diagonal.  Attach the horn and ears with a little melted chocolate.

To decorate the candies.  Attach all of the decorations to the heart with melted candy melts.  I use the sprinkle pops found on amazon.   Sprinkle Pop makes a unicorn mix that has a little wafer-thin unicorn that is adorable.

Notes

Make it Healthy and Food dye-free.
To Melt Candy Melts or white chocolate in the microwave. Microwave for 30-second intervals. Stir after every 30 seconds. Be careful not to overheat the Candy Melts. Overheating them will cause the candy to form a solid clump of candy. If this happens, throw out the candy and start over. Alternately you can melt in a double boiler on the stove.
Use white chocolate in place of the candy melts.  Candy melts have artificial flavors and food dye colors.
To color the white chocolate, use natural powdered food-based colors. (click here) for a link to purchase Jelife color. Remember, you have to use a color that works in an oil or candy base. The only colors I've found that work with candy are powders. Please don't purchase a powder that requires you to mix it in water before using it.
