Five Ingredients in Asian Sesame Dressing

  • Sesame Oil – Use toasted sesame oil and not sesame seed oil as it has a lighter more subtle flavor.  Sesame seed oil is a darker oil than sesame oil.
  • Soy Sauce -I use regular salt soy sauce, however is you are on a low salt diet use the low sodium variety.  I purchase my soy sauce at an asian market, however the soy sauce from the grocery store is also ok to use.
  • Simple Syrup – make a batch of simple syrup and leave the extra in the fridge for use in mixed drinks.  To make simple syrup combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water.  Heat until dissolved.  Let cool before using.
  • Rice Vinegar – I’ve use both the seasoned and unseasoned rice vinegar in this recipe and both are equally delicious.
  • Sesame Seeds – Use whole and can use either raw or toasted.

Instructions for Asian Sesame Dressing

Combine the five ingredients in a beaker or bowl.  Stir and pour into your salad cruet.  I prefer a wider mouth cruet as the sesame seeds float to the top and tend to clog a narrow mouth or spout on your cruet.
